Business intelligence meant custom-built Excel dashboards. Extracting, preparing and cleaning data consumed whole days and introduced human error and conflicting sources. Few staff were confident with the technology, leaving the organisation dependent on one or two experienced people, and there was little buy-in for change.
We recommended Microsoft BI on the Office 365 estate Age UK already had: daily extraction automated with Azure timer functions and blob storage, data cleaned, transformed and modelled in Power BI, existing reports rebuilt with automatic daily refresh, and staff trained to navigate and use Power BI on their own.
